Built by kids.
No shortcuts.

FearOfBot is a student robotics team from Frederick County, Maryland, made up of energetic, driven kids from Urbana Middle School and Urbana High School. In our very first DECODE season, we showed up, competed hard, and walked away with a Design Award — proof that heart and hustle go a long way.

What makes FearOfBot special? Everything on our robot — every design decision, every idea, every component — was brainstormed, envisioned, and built by our students alone. No outsourcing. No shortcuts. Just a group of young engineers who refused to back down from a challenge.

Not bad for a rookie squad. This is just the beginning. đŸ”Ĩ

DECODE

Presented by RTX — an archaeology-inspired challenge where teams uncover the mysteries of the world's artifacts using engineering, strategy, and teamwork.

🤖
Autonomous Period — 30 Seconds
Fully programmed robot movement with zero driver input. Robots detect motif patterns and score artifacts entirely on their own.
đŸ•šī¸
Driver Control — 2 Minutes
Drivers take the wheel! Teams collect and score pickleball-like artifacts, manage gates, and clear classifiers for bonus points.
⚡
Endgame — 20 Seconds
A frantic sprint to the base zone. Bonus points are awarded if both alliance robots park inside together before time runs out.
🎨
The Design Award
Awarded to teams with the most elegant, creative robot engineering. FearOfBot earned this at Alexandria — a true testament to the team's ingenuity.
🤝
Alliance Play
Two alliances of two robots each face off per match. Teamwork and strategy between alliance partners can make or break a match.
